Creating Point-of-Care Ultrasound
During the 1950's, ultrasound emerged as a safe and non-invasive tool that allowed physicians to "see" inside the human body. By the late 1990's, engineers at Sonosite were leverageing over a decade of expertise in digital ultrasound and customised ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit design) technology in order to create the first "handheld" ultrasound system - the Sonosite 180.
FUJIFILM Sonosite's Key Ultrasound Innovations
In the past 20 years, Sonosite has gone from creating the first application specific integrated circuit for ultrasound miniturization (ASIC) to the first ultra-high frequency ultrasound for clinical use (the Vevo MD). The graphic below shows just a fraction of the innovations, patents, and technological break-throughs that have been pushed by Sonosite over the last two decades.
Some of FUJIFILM Sonosite's most notable innovations include breakthrough imageing technolgy like SonoHD2 and SonoMB, signal processing techniques like Pulse Inversion THI, and novel transducer design like HFL38xi dualflex and thin lens design, making Sonosite the originator and innovator in point-of-care ultrasound technology.
Ultrasound Transducer Technology
From SonoAdapt to MbE Steep Needle Profiling to DirectClear technology, Sonosite has created new technologies that allowed clinicians to capture better ultrasound images at the bedside.
Ultrasound Education
From 3D clinical and technology training videos embedded on the Sonosite X-Porte to developing the first mobile clinical ultrasound app, Sonosite has led the way in ultrasound clinical education since 2005.
Creating Sonosite Ultrasound Systems
One of our most important innovations continues to be ultrasound "ease of use." Watch Sonosite's Chief Medical Officer and Experience Design Team discuss how our unique design process helps discover the problems our users face, and helps create the solutions that solve them.
