Sonosite Recognized For Its 346 Percent Revenue Growth Over The Past Three Years
BOTHELL, WA, September 27, 2002 - Sonosite, Inc. (Nasdaq: SONO) has been named a Rising Star and one of the fastest growing technology companies in Washington State by Deloitte & Touche. The Rising Star category is a part of the "Technology Fast 50" program and consists of companies in business less than five years, but more than three years, based on percentage of growth in revenues for three years (1999 to 2001).
"To make the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 50 Rising Star list, a company must have had tremendous revenue growth from 1999-2001," said Larry Hile, Partner-in-charge of the Technology, Media and Telecommunications Practice for Deloitte & Touche's Northwest Practice. "We at Deloitte & Touche applaud Sonosite for having the long-term vision to develop technologies that change the way we work and care for one another."
Sonosite's President and CEO, Kevin M. Goodwin, credits the company's innovative and expansive technology and strong worldwide sales force with the 346 percent revenue growth over the three-year time period through June 2002. Sonosite recognized its first commercial revenue in September 1999.
"We are quite proud of this accomplishment and honored to receive this award from Deloitte & Touche," said Goodwin. "Sonosite is dedicated to creating and leading a movement of visualization in medicine and this award is further proof that our vision is being fulfilled daily as more and more physicians and hospitals purchase our products to improve the quality of care, reduce overall costs, and provide greater diagnostic capability. This award indicates that we are making solid progress and achieving the goals necessary for the company's long-term success."
To qualify for the Rising Stars category, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 1999 and $1,000,000 in 2001, must be public or private companies headquartered in North America, and be "technology companies." Deloitte & Touche defines a "technology company" as any firm that owns proprietary technology, which contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues and devotes a high percentage of effort to research and development of technology.
Winners of the 20 regional Technology Fast 50 programs in the United States and Canada are automatically entered in the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North America's top 500 fastest growing technology companies. The Washington State Technology Fast 50 is sponsored by Comerica Bank, Marsh, and Perkins Coie. For more information on the Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 or Fast 500 programs, visit www.fast500.com.
