Has it really been a year already? We’re back in LA this week for another edition of CHEST, the premier clinical event for chest medicine in the U.S. We love CHEST because the show connects a global community around not just networking and new technology, but brings together new research, instruction and interactive simulations too. If you’re a veteran of CHEST you probably know your way around the show. If you haven’t been before or need a refresher, here’s our quick “Guide to CHEST2016.”

1. Push Your Medical Education

It can be hard to complete continuing medical education credentials when many practices are cutting costs, but  caregivers want to stay up-to-date with CME and MOC. CHEST is a great way to move forward with your education as MOC points are available for all CME sessions throughout the conference.

2. Get Interdisciplinary

To push the education experience even further, CHEST has modeled their education to mirror the team environment practitioners and clinicians work in every day. CHEST2016 will feature interdisciplinary sessions that allow a speaker to present from multiple roles in a real-life scenario. This type of inclusive approach to education can be a valuable experience, especially for teams who want to understand complex topics and scenarios from a multitude of angles.

3. Check Out New Tech

Who doesn’t like doing their job better? Or with less barriers? CHEST2016 is filled with exhibitors that are focused on bringing new technology to market. Drop by booth #2201 to get hands-on time with our point-of-care ultrasound systems and learn more about how we spent 1700 hours and flew 100,000 miles last year to meet with clinicians and teams to understand their barriers to patients care - and how we brought those learnings back and designed our new products to solve them. Sonosite ultrasound systems are known for their portability, reliability, and durability and we’re excited to be back at CHEST for another year of meeting with our users and learning about what they need and what they want.

4. Play Some GAMES

We’ll end our guide with something a little more light-hearted. As part of the Simulation Center, GAMEs (Games Augmenting Medical Education) will be available to CHEST participants. Why are GAMEs important? Because in this simulated experience participants can experience the complexity of the real world within a simulated environment while improving their medical education. If you’ve attended CHEST before, some of your favorites, like Whack-a-Doc, are back. There’ll be nine arcade style and tabletop games, as well as two live games.
