BOTHELL, WA, November 24, 2014 (Booth # 2511, South Building)FUJIFILM Sonosite Inc., specialists in designing cutting-edge ultrasound tools and world-leading education for access to point-of-care visualization, will showcase its latest products – including the X-Porte™ Ultrasound Kiosk – at the 100th annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago, Ill.

The kiosk was created to serve a broad spectrum of users, from novice to advanced, and represents an entirely new design and use paradigm for ultrasound,” said Jodi Miller, director, Market Development, FUJIFILM Sonosite, Inc. “FUJIFILM Sonosite designed the X-Porte to meet the needs of busy radiology departments looking for ideal portable ultrasound solutions.

The X-Porte kiosk is an important milestone in FUJIFILM’s ongoing effort to improve access to point-of-care ultrasound visualization. X-Porte’s design and capabilities have been incredibly well-received internationally and ultrasound users have been delighted by the innovative user interface and advanced image quality.

The foundational advancement behind X-Porte is a new imaging technology never before used in ultrasound systems: Sonosite's proprietary Extreme Definition Imaging™ (XDI) technology. XDI is a new beam forming algorithm that significantly reduces the visual clutter from side-lobes that affect all ultrasound products regardless of system size. The resulting ultrasound image appears cleaner with optimal tissue differentiation. The technological innovations are a result of the feedback and experiences of hundreds of clinicians that were observed during the development of the ultrasound kiosk.

The highly cleanable, sealed user interface was designed with minimal crevices to facilitate optimal infection control. The glass surface has been tested against incidental spills and allows cleaning with a wide range of disinfectants without deteriorating the surface over time.

X-Porte was designed for optimizing user workflow and varied environments, with adjustable height and gesture-driven touchpad for use in a standing or sitting position. The kiosk's slender profile lends itself to easy navigation down corridors and alongside patient beds; it has a detachable use option for low-footprint environments. The X-Porte ultrasound core can be easily detached from the kiosk as well as simply upgraded though straightforward software updates or an engine exchange.
