BOTHELL, WA - November 27, 2006 - Sonosite, Inc. (Nasdaq:SONO), the world leader in hand-carried ultrasound, announced today that it has shipped over 3,000 MicroMaxx systems to customers worldwide. The company made the announcement at the 92nd Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) being held in Chicago from November 26 to December 1. Weighing less than 8 pounds, Sonosite's MicroMaxx system is the company's third generation of ultrasound technology and represents the technology crossover point between hand-carried ultrasound and larger, high-performance, cart-based systems. Battery operable if desired, the MicroMaxx system boots up from "off" to scanning in seconds, and is designed to withstand the rigors of highly mobile use. In fact, the system is so rugged that it comes with a 5-year warranty - a first in the industry where standard practice is to charge another 10-15% annually of a system's purchase price for a service contract.

"Ultra-portable ultrasound systems are changing the way we practice medicine by enabling focused ultrasound examinations when and where they are needed," says Levon N. Nazarian, MD, FACR, Professor and Vice Chairman for Education Department of Radiology, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital whose practice includes many professional athletes. "Because we are able to offer real-time imaging at the point of service, whether it's on the sports field or in the locker room, we have been able to provide a quick and accurate diagnosis for injuries, some of which may be career threatening. Beyond the sports field, the small, high quality ultrasound scanner is becoming an essential tool for guiding interventional procedures.

And for physicians who practice in multiple locations, it eliminates the need for a dedicated imaging room because they can easily carry a system from room to room." In a recent independently conducted, random survey commissioned by Sonosite, customers gave its products an overall satisfaction rating of 97% based on image quality, ease of use, durability, reliability and ergonomic transducer design. Over 60% of survey participants owned MicroMaxx systems and 90% of respondents were physicians. Sonosite is exhibiting the MicroMaxx system at RSNA Booth #4948 in the south hall of McCormick Place.
