Update from the Penn Doctor who went to Liberia to treat Ebola
Here at Sonosite we have a pool of equipment that we loan for global health missions in under-served areas. We were fortunate to be able to support Dr Braehler's recent mission to Honduras. This is what he had to say:
Clinical evidence and research supports using ultrasound as the first diagnostic test for numerous musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. Diagnostic ultrasound offers a number of important advantages compared to computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), in terms of safety and effectiveness. Diagnostic ultrasound is noninvasive and offers real-time imaging, allowing for examinations of structures at rest and in motion.

Morocco Trial Shows Remote Ultrasound Can Expand Access and Improve Maternal Care.

Now a new trial shows that local sonography with remote interpretation can reduce turn around time down to 24 hours while decreasing cost from $80 to $2 per study.
